NETTLE (urtica dioica)
Urtica dioica is the Latin name for what is commonly known as “stinging nettle” to you and me, which has a long history of medicinal use as well as being a good source of food and fibre. Nettle has been used to help treat conditions such as arthritis, urinary infections, kidney problems, skin problems, heart disease and gout. Amongst all of these nettle is widely used to treat hair loss and encourage healthy regrowth of hair. It is known to block the production of excess DHT, which is the main cause of hereditary baldness, to strengthen the hair from the root down through the hair shaft, thicken hair texture and combat dandruff. Nettle can be consumed orally either in a supplement or brewed in a tea (many of which are widely available on the market) as well as used externally to the hair to help combat hair loss. Arnica is a natural antiseptic that has been used medicinally for thousands of years. It derives from the sunflower family and has been used traditionally to treat bruises, inflammation, skin abrasions, eczema and hair loss. Arnica is known to strengthen hair and improve blood circulation to the scalp which in turn encourages healthier hair growth. It also helps combat dandruff, split ends and can help with premature greying of the hair. It can be used externally as an oil to prevent hair loss and promote healthy hair growth. It is great at getting rid of dandruff as the arnica cleanses excess oil and sebum from the scalp, clearing away dandruff giving natural, healthy shine to the hair.
