The fruits of the saw palmetto are highly enriched with fatty acids and phytosterols. Saw palmetto extract has been shown to inhibit both forms of 5-alpha-reductase also known as DHT without eliminating the cellular capacity to secrete Prostate Specific Antigen, as Finesteride does. Other proposals for mechanisms of action include interfering with dihydrotestosterone binding to the androgen receptor, relaxing smooth muscle tissue similarly to alpha antagonist drugs and acting as a phytoestrogen. Saw palmetto extract has been suggested as a potential treatment for male pattern baldness.
Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary)
Rosemary (also known as Rosmarinus officinalis), has certain therapeutic properties such as regulating blood pressure, stimulating blood circulation, boosting the health of the heart and also works as an antidepressant. Rosemary is extremely high in iron, calcium, and Vitamin B6.
The primary active ingredient of this essential oil from German chamomile is antispasmodic, anxiolytic, anti-inflammatory and contains antimutagenic and cholesterol-lowering effects.
Foeniculum Vulgare or fennel oil has exceptional antioxidant properties. Fennel contains anethole, which can explain some of its medical effects. This would remove the free radical intermediates and prevent the oxidation reaction from continuing, also assisting in protecting the skin from UV rays. The oxidised α-tocopheroxyl radicals produced in this process may be recycled back to the active reduced form through reduction by other antioxidants, such as ascorbate, retinol or ubiquinol. Vitamin E also helps our hair and skin to rejuvenate itself more effectively. It also increases the epithelialization of the skin and hair tissues. Another known property is that it increases the supply of hydration to the skin and hair tissues.
Polyquaterniums are commonly found in conditioners, shampoos, mousses, hair sprays and hair dye solutions. They are positively charged and therefore neutralise the negative charges of most shampoos and condition hair proteins that help hair lie flat. Their positive charges also ionically bond them to hair and skin. They also have antimicrobial properties.
Panthenol comes in two enantiomers, D and L. Only D-panthenol (dexpanthenol) is biologically active, however both forms have moisturizing properties. Pantothenic acid is essential to normal epithelial function. It is a component of coenzyme A, which serves as a cofactor for a variety of enzyme-catalysed reactions that are important in the metabolism of carbohydrates, fatty acids, proteins, gluconeogenesis, sterols, steroid hormones, and porphyrins. The topical use of dexpanthenol, the stable alcoholic analogue of pantothenic acid, is based on good skin penetration and high local concentrations of dexpanthenol when administered in an adequate vehicle, such as water-in-oil emulsions. Topical dexpanthenol acts like a moisturizer, improving stratum corneum hydration, reducing trans epidermal water loss and maintaining skin softness and elasticity.

Green tea contains compounds known as antioxidants, which help neutralize free radicals. According to the U.S. National Library of Medicine, a 2007 study by Korean scientists at the Seoul National University College of Medicine found that epigallocatechin-3-gallat, or EGCG, present in green tea promoted growth of hair follicles and stimulated the human dermal papilla cells to boost hair production. While green tea may stimulate your hair follicles and make your hair grow faster, it is not necessarily useful for treating androgenic alopecia, which is a genetic hormonal hair loss condition. The Korean study notes that green tea may have potential to inhibit 5-alpha-reductase, the scalp pathway that converts testosterone to DHT and leads to hair loss.

It is thought that this could have widespread cosmetic implications and lead to future drug development for the prevention and regrowth of hair in men with natural herbal ginseng remedies. According to the University of Maryland Medical Centre, ginseng is believed to have antioxidant properties, which can contribute to the health of your cardiovascular system and encourage healthy blood flow.
